Medical Updates at the UoM

Even though I go rarely to attend medical updates at the UoM - most of them are in the evening, when we are supposed to be learning at home (or when most of us are just preparing to go to bed. Lol) - I wanted to post this information:-

Announcements of forecoming medical updates (and past ones too, but it was of no use for me to say it; no use..No, really!) are available at the website of the MUG (Medical Update Group) at the following link:-

But that's not all!! The good news is that the powerpoint presentations of some talks can be downloaded there too!! Yes, no kidding (Would I be?) !!!

Now that's certainly a good initiative from the UoM Medical Department at last!! (Hum-hum, among so many others of course..hum-hum..hum-hum..*cough*)

Santa Claus in Hospital the videos!!!

An information for the public: The Santa Claus in Hospitals was a gift-distribution-type-sort-of event organised by the UOMMSS last december (on the 22th)... The objective was to bring Santa to kids in the paediatric ward of J.Nehru Hospital in Rose Belle, Mauritius, and to make sure that they had a good time in our company..I'm sure they had fun; we did!!

Until I upload the videos from "Santa Claus in Hospitals" (I have to convert the files etc before uploading them), I'm inviting you to listen to this song below. It's not a video, just audio. I had a headache last night and after listening to that song, I forgot that I had had headache... The song's called Orion and played by a two-member band called Rodrigo Y Gabriela (Rodrigo et Gabriela). This is actually a cover version from the original played by Metallica (the original is hard rock style, but this cover is acoustic).

World Diabetes Day celebrated by UOMMSS on 12th of November

Finaly!!!!!!! Here are some footage from the WDD of last month at the Paul Octave Wiehe Auditorium, University of Mauritius... Most of the videos are unedited as they contain a lot of info and I personally find some scenes amusing and I don't want you, the world, to miss a bit of it.

World Diabetes Day by UOMMSS on 12th November

I'm just dropping in a word to thank all of you who have participated actively in the World Diabetes Day organised by the UOMMSS on Monday 12. It was an immense success where more than 300 students of the university came in for screening and where the talks and quiz sections were particularly appraised.

Thanks again. I will try to post some pics and vids soon.

Diabetes: Reduit campus join in awareness campaign

The international WDD was on the 14th November where the president of UOMMSS and his most loyal members, including me, participated in a "walk for the combat against diabetes" organised by the Mauritius Diabetes Association from the University of Mauritius to the State House (where the president of the republic of Mauritius usually meets eminent people.)

Notice For Upcoming World Diabetes Day

On the 12th of November 2007, the uommss is organizing the World Diabetes Day in the Paul Octave Wiehe Auditorium as from 10.00. This will be a national event targeting mainly students of tertiary institutions in which the main message that we aim to pass is prevention of diabetes through sensitization and screening as from a young age...

I am not going to give any more details at the moment, but this will follow, be assured...
